Please join us in celebrating the success of three outstanding siblings who have added another beautiful chapter to the “Program of Excellence” at Pampa High School! For the first time in PHS history, three siblings have earned the top score possible, a “5”, on the difficult National AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam given in May of each academic year.
Sara is the oldest daughter of the family and earned her “5” in 2020, Brissa earned her “5” in 2023, and Said matched his sisters’ scores with a “5” this past May in 2026. Each of these marks were achieved while competing against approximately 175,000 other high school students from across the United States and its territories. To post the highest score possible while matching skills against that number of advanced students is a very prestigious honor indeed!
By earning a “5” on this National AP Exam, each student has tested out of the first four Spanish classes at almost every four-year college in the United States. They have been given college credit for each class, and don’t have to pay tuition or books for these four college classes. Essentially, they have been rewarded with the equivalent of a free college semester for their efforts on this National AP Exam.
Sara is now a military wife, has finished her bachelor’s degree in business economics, and is currently working full-time and studying pre-law online. Brissa is busy working full time in Pampa and will begin her studies in elementary education this fall. Said will be a junior in 2026-27, is a member of the District Champion Harvester Soccer team, and plans to study engineering after graduation from PHS.
The high performance of these three young people is evidence of how the importance of education is promoted in their household!
Michael Cole, PHS Spanish Department Head said, "As a teacher, it has been a privilege to work with the siblings of this family and to have played a very small part of their success. Looking ahead, I believe the future holds many more great accomplishments for Sara, Brissa, and Said!"
