PAMPA, TX — Pampa ISD proudly congratulates Dr. Byron May, principal of Travis Elementary, on being named the lone finalist for superintendent of Clarendon CISD.
The Clarendon CISD Board of Trustees made the announcement during a special meeting held on April 21, 2026. In accordance with state law, the board must observe a 21-day waiting period before officially voting to hire Dr. May as superintendent.
Dr. May has been a valued leader in Pampa ISD, serving students, staff, and families with dedication and integrity. During his time as principal of Travis Elementary, he has been instrumental in fostering a positive campus culture, supporting student success, and building strong relationships with staff and the community.
“Dr. May’s leadership has made a lasting impact on Travis Elementary and our district as a whole,” said Pampa ISD Superintendent Hugh Piatt. “While we will certainly miss him, we are excited to see him take this next step in his career. Clarendon CISD is gaining an exceptional leader.”
Throughout his career in Pampa ISD, Dr. May has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a passion for serving others, values that align with the district’s mission to ensure every student is prepared for success.
While his leadership will be greatly missed, the district celebrates this milestone and the opportunity ahead for Dr. May.
