Every Friday evening in the fall you will see a player wearing No. 32. This number holds a special place in Pampa High School football history because it was worn by Pro Football Hall of Famer Zach Thomas. As a tribute to Thomas, the Pampa High School football program has retired No. 32 from regular jersey circulation. From this day forward, jersey No. 32 will be worn every Friday night by a different individual. That individual embodies that competitive spirit which Zach Thomas displayed every Friday night in the fall. The individual will be voted on by the coaching staff.

The fourth player selected by the coaching staff to wear No. 32 during the 2026 season is sophomore defensive back and wide receiver Cruise Godino. He normally wears No. 14, but for the fourth game against rival Borger on Friday, he will be wearing the Zach Thomas No. 32.

Cruise Godino said being chosen by the Pampa coaching staff to wear the No. 32 jersey is meaningful because it reflects the work he has put into the program.

“It feels really good because it shows they have noticed all the hard work and leadership I have put in during the season and offseason,” Godino said.

The honor carries even more significance for Godino because he is receiving the opportunity as an underclassman.

“It is an honor, especially getting to wear the number as an underclassman when only seniors have worn it so far,” Godino said.

In addition to football, Godino also competes for the Harvesters on the baseball diamond. He hopes athletics will remain part of his life after high school.

“I also play baseball, and I would like to play in college,” Godino said.

When thinking about his future, Godino said one particular university has always stood out because of his family’s longtime support.

“Ever since I was little, I have been raised as a Texas Tech fan,” Godino said. “It would be cool to attend college there.”

Away from school and athletics, Godino enjoys staying active and spending time with the people closest to him.

“I like to work out, hang out with my friends and play video games in my free time,” Godino said.

In the classroom, Godino said math is his favorite subject because of its organized and straightforward nature.

“I like math because it is structured,” Godino said. “If you follow the instructions, you will get the answer.”

Godino is also beginning to think about his future career. He is interested in earning a business-related degree while also learning a skilled trade.

“I want to major in business management, and I would also like to become an electrician,” Godino said.

Godino concluded by expressing his appreciation to the coaches who selected him for the honor.

“I would like to thank my coaches for giving me this opportunity,” Godino said.

Head coach Floyd White said Godino earned the opportunity to wear No. 32 through his versatility and willingness to do whatever the Harvesters have needed from him.

“This week, No. 32 will be worn by Cruise Godino. Cruise has been a top-notch contributor to the team over the last two weeks,” White said. “He has filled multiple roles to help us be successful. He has played four different positions in the last three weeks and has done all the jobs admirably. We could not ask for a better teammate.”''
