The Pampa Lady Harvesters (16-11, 0-1) hosted West Plains on Thursday to open District play. While they did tie the match 1-1 after two sets, the West Plains Lady Wolves took the final two sets to take the match 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-12) from Pampa.

“I think we had a hard time keeping the momentum after coming off of such a well-executed set,” Head Coach Kaylee Samulowitz said. “Our passing struggled, which kept us out of the system, which makes it hard to beat a good team.”

Elli Peet is one of the seniors on this squad, and Samulowitz said Peet is an example of what a Lady Harvester should strive to be.

“Elli is such a huge part of our team," Samulowitz said. “She keeps the energy alive on the sidelines, but I'm also confident in her ability to play when we need her. She brings such a mature presence to our team and fills a big role for us. Elli is involved in so many things here and is such a great example of a PHS student-athlete.”

The Lady Harvesters now turn their attention to Randall, who is ranked No. 12 in the State. Game time is slated for 12 p.m. Saturday.

“Randall is currently ranked No. 12 in the state, so it's another solid opponent,” Samulowitz said. I'm hoping we can just build on the two good sets we played on Tuesday and take that momentum into Saturday.”
