The Pampa Harvester and Lady Harvester cross country teams returned to action Thursday in Balko, Oklahoma, and every Pampa runner came home with a medal!

The Lady Harvesters were led by Junior Perla Hernandez, who finished fourth overall with a time of 14:02.17, while Sophomore Zoe Reynolds placed seventh with a time of 15:22.20. The newest team member Alexis Valles finished 23rd with a time of 17:04.82. Despite competing with just three runners, all three Lady Harvesters earned medals.

The Harvester boys turned in an impressive performance of their own, taking each of the top three individual spots and capturing the team championship.

Senior Ryan Resendiz led the way with a first-place finish with a time of 18:10.50, followed by Junior Jesus Montano in second, with a time of 18:48.00 and Junior Said Saldierna in third with a time of 19:04.10.

Three more Harvesters finished inside the top 20 and helped secure the team championship.

Pampa’s performance was not just about individual finishes, but the strength of the group as a whole. From the front of the pack to the final scoring positions, the Harvesters consistently put runners in position to contribute.

Senior Edwin Madrid placed 11th with a time of 20:09.90, Freshman Dimarrio “Pancho” Ortega finished 14th with a time of 20:52.60 and Sophomore Max McClendon came in 19th with a time of 21:48.20.

Freshman Benson Owens finished 22nd with a time of 22:24.40, Freshman Guillermo Robledo was 23rd with a time of 22:26.90, Freshman Clark Campbell placed 24th with a time of 22:52.10 and Freshman Jeremiah Ojeda finished 25th with a time of 23:48.10.

With the top 30 finishers receiving medals, Pampa runners accounted for one-third of the medalists at the meet.

“Tired but happy faces and team camaraderie was on display. Thanks to all the parents and fans who were there to root us on. We go to Perryton on Saturday to do it again. I could not be prouder of our kids. They have grit! GO HARVESTERS!” Pampa Head Coach Otis Chunn said.

The Cross Country teams hit the road again quickly on Saturday where they will compete in Perryton. The strong showing was another encouraging sign for a Pampa squad that continues to build momentum early in the season. With runners placing throughout the field, the Harvesters showed both top-end talent and valuable depth.
