The Pampa Lady Harvesters (9-8) carried the momentum from last week’s tournament with a sweep (25-5, 25-8, 25-14) over San Jacinto on Tuesday evening. 

“Yesterday was just a great reminder that volleyball is just a game, and it was really awesome to see the girls just relax and have fun playing a game they all love,” Head Coach Kaylee Samulowitz said. “Our goal was to be aggressive and control the game from point one, and I think they did a great job of that.”

Junior Madi Barton picked up where she left off following a tournament where she had 129 assists and 12 aces, adding 17 assists and two aces on Tuesday.

“Madi has stepped into a huge role this year,” Samulowitz said. “If you know anything about volleyball, being the setter in a 5-1 offense is comparable to being QB1. She has a lot of pressure in her position, but she has done a great job so far. She takes coaching so well and is always looking for ways that she can improve and make her teammates better. I'm super proud of the way that she has been playing, and she has such a high ceiling that I'm excited to see the level at which she'll be competing by the end of the season.”

The Harvesters waste little time getting back on the court as they travel to Denver City on Thursday for a tournament starting Friday. 

“We start off Friday playing Fort Stockton, Lovington, and Kermit,” Samulowitz said. “I'm hoping that we can continue to find our rhythm on offense and keep improving on serve and receive. I'm hoping that we can get that first high-quality win during this tournament and hopefully be competing for the championship on Saturday."
