Every Friday evening in the fall you will see a player wearing #32. This number is special in Pampa High School Football history as it is the jersey number worn by Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Zach Thomas. As a tribute to Zach, the Pampa High School football program will be retiring #32 from the jersey circulation. From this day forward, jersey #32 will be worn every Friday night by a different individual. That individual embodies that competitive spirit which Zach Thomas displayed every Friday night in the fall. The individual will be voted on by the coaching staff.

The first individual to be selected by his coaching staff for this 2026 season to have the honor of wearing #32 will be Cy LeBlanc, Senior Wide Receiver and Defensive Back. He normally bears #29 but for the first game against Caprock on Friday he will be wearing the Zach Thomas #32.

How does it feel for LeBlanc to be the next one selected?

“I feel honored to be selected, especially for the first game to wear #32,” LeBlanc said. “Especially for what it means to this town and the coaches because of who wore it before me. I just feel honored to wear it. It is a privilege to wear it.”

Cy also plays baseball in the outfield for the Pampa Harvesters. He also plays basketball for the Hustlin’ Harvesters.

He plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in engineering.

“I will most likely major in some form of engineering and get an engineering job wherever I end up,” LeBlanc said.

What are some things he likes to do outside of school? He enjoys going to church with his friends at First Baptist Church and helping around the house.

“I like taking care of the animals we have at our house,” LeBlanc said.

His favorite subject is science.

“Probably science just because I enjoy learning about how the world works and how everything survives,” LeBlanc said.

Anything else he wanted to share?

“It’s a privilege to get to wear this number and thank you to all the coaches who made this decision and who made me the person I am today,” LeBlanc said.

Here is what Pampa’s DB and WR Coach Jason Burklow, had to say about Cy:

“Cy is a heck of a football player and an even better kid. Cy is super smart and is always around the football in some sort of fashion. He's definitely a student of the game because he's always asking questions because he wants to make sure he is always in the right place,” Burklow said. “One of the great things I love about Cy is that he is always going to give it his all to get the job done. He is always on ‘go’ and is going to get where he needs to be as fast as he can. Cy has a lot of ‘heart’ and desire for the game of football.”
