Haili Newton is a Junior athlete on the Harvester Track team. She also competed for the volleyball team. She had a throw of 80’1” in discus this season for her best throw. She had a personal record high jump this year of 4’4” at the Guymon meet.
Here is what Harvester Assistant Track and Head Volleyball Coach Abbey Kashwer had to say about Haili:
“Haili and Naya are both juniors that have made such growth this year. They bought into the weight room, and are two of the hardest workers that have made impressive jumps in their maxes during both track and off-season. Haili’s best throw this track season was 80’1, and both girls PR’ed in high jump at the Guymon meet. As they go into summer and prepare for their senior seasons in volleyball, they will push their teammates in the weight room and on the court,” Kashwer said.
Robert Galvan is a Senior athlete on the Harvester Wrestling team. He also played football and was a drum major in the band. He has committed to wrestle for Midland University in Nebraska next season. As a senior, Robert, while touting a 35-8 record, was ranked in the Top 15 in the State of Texas for his weight class and a two-time Regional Qualifier.
Here is what Harvester Wrestling Head Coach Ryan Pearson had to say about Robert:
“I’m super-excited for Robert! He’s not the first and he won’t be the last; I’m super-excited because he’s hungry. He’s ready to go. It’s going to be huge because our kids have seen him; they’ve seen his success, and they’ve looked up to him all of the time. He’s one of the pillars in the room. It’s nice for them to see him and say, ‘I can do this.’ Robert’s only been wrestling since freshman year. He didn’t grow up wrestling. He’s just like them. For them, they see this as an opportunity and can say, ‘I can do this, too.’ It’s going to be huge for our program,” Pearson said.
Congratulations to Haili and Robert on being what a great Harvester student-athlete is all about!
