The Pampa Harvester track team had four athletes advance from District to the Area meet in Woodrow. It was held on Thursday, April 16th. To advance to Regionals, the athletes would need to place in the top four of their event.

Senior Parker Webb was the Area Champion in the Shot Put with his first place finish. His throw was 52’11.5”. In the same event, Junior Jace Jones also qualified for Regionals with his fourth place finish. His throw was 48’7.”

Webb also qualified for Regionals with his third place Discus finish. His throw in that event was 156'1.”

Junior Ira Smith ran in the 400-meter dash. He just missed qualifying for Regionals with a sixth place finish and a time of 52.22.

Senior Avery Ferguson claimed the Area Champion titles in both the 100-meter Wheelchair Dash and the 400-meter Wheelchair Dash, finishing in first place for both events. His times were 20.93 in the 100-meter and 1:48.27 in the 400-meter.

“Thank you to Coach Smith for his work with Avery and thank you to Coach Mahannah, Coach Henry, and Coach Kashwer for all of your help in making this season a great one. On to Regionals!” Head Track Coach Eric Langhenning said. “IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A HARVESTER!”

Ferguson, Webb, and Jones will now travel to Lubbock on May 1-2 for the Regional Track Meet hosted at Plains Capital Park / Lowrey Field. Good luck and safe travels to our track athletes!
