The Pampa Lady Harvesters (6-6, 8-16) traveled to Perryton on Friday afternoon to play against the Rangerettes. The varsity game was moved up from 4:30 to 3 P.M. due to the possibility of weather in the area.
“After a slow start in the first inning we were able to hold Perryton scoreless for the rest of the game to run-rule them, 13-3, in the fifth inning. One of the key components to the team we have tried to instill this year is how we finish. I have been very impressed with our team on how we have fought to the end of every game, and have finished early when needed,” Head Coach Denise Browning said.
Pampa started out quickly in the top of the first with a single on a hard groundball to left field by Sophomore Myla Zarate. Freshman Addi Bagwell then walked. Sophomore Brooklyn Warren then singled on a ground ball to left to score both Zarate and Bagwell and give the Lady Harvesters a 2-0 lead. Junior Michelle Gallegos continued the hit parade with a single on a grounder to center to score Warren and make it 3-0. Warren also stole second during the at-bat. The hits kept coming with Freshman Emme Hill singling on a line drive to third. Junior Payton Gowin continued the hit party with a single on a grounder to third and scored Hill to make it 4-0. The third out of the top of the first finally came but Pampa had a commanding lead, 4-0.
Senior Hallie Reynolds was in the circle for Pampa. Perryton got one run back in the bottom of the first to make it 4-1.
Senior Ella Hudson had the lone hit for Pampa in the top of the second when she singled on a grounder to center. Perryton made the game close at 4-3 after the bottom of the second but Reynolds did record a strikeout in the inning.
Pampa opened things up in the third with a double on a line drive to center by Warren. Gallegos then took first on a four pitch walk. Hill smashed a homer on a fly ball to left to score all three and make it 7-3 Lady Harvesters. Sophomore Kinley Duke hit a triple on a line drive to right with two outs. Hudson brought her home on a line drive to center and Pampa led 8-3 after the top of the third.
A leadoff single by the Rangerettes in the third ended up being the only action for Perryton and Pampa led 8-3 after three complete.
Bagwell singled on a grounder to right to begin the fourth. Warren reached on an error which also scored Bagwell to make it 9-3. The threat for more runs ended for Pampa after Gowin was caught stealing third on a questionable call.
Gowin came in to pitch in the bottom of the fourth and recorded two strikeouts. Warren also gunned down a base runner attempting a steal to end the inning. Zarate made a great tag on the runner.
Freshman Blayklee Cooper walked to begin the fifth. Duke and Hudson also walked to load the bases. Cooper stole second and third bases as well. Bagwell cleared the bases and scored herself on an inside the park homerun on a line drive to right and Pampa led 13-3.
Gowin got the first out of the bottom of the fifth via a ground out which Hill picked up and tossed to Gallegos at first for the out. After a walk, Gowin recorded the second out via the strikeout. The last out came after a single to center. Hudson picked up the ball and threw a dart to third and Hill applied the tag on the runner for the final out of the game.
Final Score/5: Pampa 13, Perryton 3.
“We have had a lot of success with our younger players. Two of our freshman players had homeruns. Emme Hill had a three-run homerun, and Addi Bagwell had a great shot to the right field corner for an in the park home run. All of our hitters that came up to the plate had at least one hit, and really showed how far we have come!” Browning said.

Pampa will host Randall on Tuesday night at 4:30 P.M. on Lady Harvester Field. It is a pivotal matchup for the last playoff spot, the fourth seed. It is also Stand Up to Cancer Night. Fill the stands as they honor survivors, remember loved ones, and stand strong with those still fighting. Your support makes a difference both on and off the field.
“We will play Randall Tuesday for our Stand Up To Cancer Night at Lady Harvester Field. Every Varsity player will find someone to honor either fighting, honoring those who lost their battle, or celebrating those that have won their battle. This night is always very important to our Lady Harvesters, but is very special to myself as well. We lost my sister three years ago this month to a battle with Melanoma, so I always love seeing families honored. Randall has had a very successful season thus far, but I know that my team is very much ready and willing to shake some things up this week with a win in our final two games,” Browning said.
