The Pampa Harvesters (10-8, 3-4) look to right the ship and keep themselves in the playoff hunt after going 0-2 against Canyon and West Plains over the last two games.
The Harvesters fell to Canyon 13-0 and 10-1 against West Plains on Tuesday for a rough stretch of District play.
“All of the Canyon schools know how to play baseball and will have nine baseball players on the field at all times,” Head Coach Austin Samulowitz said. “We’ve got to play our best game to have a chance to beat them. Our kids are completely capable of doing so. We just have to believe in ourselves in order to get it done.”
The Canyon game saw six errors by the Harvesters to put them in an early 6-0 hole by the third inning, Samulowitz believes cleaning up the little things will help the big things take care of themselves.
“At this point every year, it’s always good to go back to the basics and building blocks and doing things that you did the first few weeks of the season where you're teaching and implementing things,” Samulowitz said.
“That’s what we’re going to go back to in the next couple of days and revisit all of the basics. Make sure as we go into the second half of district that we are sharp on all of the little things.”
The Harvesters will host Borger on Friday to kick off the second half of District. Game time is at 1 p.m. as it is a school holiday for Good Friday and Easter Weekend.
“Borger is going to come in ready to play,” Samulowitz said. “Last year, both games were one-run games. The first time around, we got after them pretty good. But we both know it’s Pampa-Borger, so they are going to come out and give us their best shot. We’ve got to come out and play good.”
