The Pampa Harvesters (7-5) traveled to Amarillo to play in the Keller Tournament last weekend, which included a game at Hodgetown Stadium, home of the Amarillo Sod Poodles.
The tournament saw the Harvesters earn wins over Palo Duro (9-8) and Caprock (9-4), but drop games to Levelland (12-6) and Trinity Christian (10-0).
“We went into the Keller tournament this weekend with a better idea of who we were compared to the previous tournament,” Head Coach Austin Samulowitz said.
“That’s what you want out of tournament season, figuring out what lineup works and which one doesn’t. I’m happy with how we competed and kept showing up. I believe we have a good idea of who we are heading into a tough district schedule.”
Part of finding themselves was figuring out their pitching rotation. Senior Greyson Paronto and Junior Gage Gamblin pitched well in the tournament and now the Harvesters head into District play with confidence on the mound.
“The biggest issue heading into this weekend was our pitching rotation,” Samulowitz said. “We still weren’t sure what our district pitching rotation was going to look like. We got two solid pitching performances by Gamblin and Paronto and they will more than likely round out the rotation for district play.”
The Harvesters welcomed Senior Conner Hall to the lineup this past weekend. The infielder joins the team after making a playoff run in basketball.

Conner Hall
“Conner Hall just got back to us from basketball,” Samuowitz said. “He has a lot of experience in the middle of the infield and was a part of our playoff run from last year. He brings a lot of good energy and positivity to the program that we were looking forward to when he came over from basketball. He is going to have a great senior season for us.”
The Harvesters open District play tonight at Borger. Game time is at 5 p.m.
“Borger is playing better than they have in years,” Samulowitz said. “Coach Odell has done a great job as the head coach. He knows baseball and he is getting them to play competitively. We are going to have to play our game and not give them any freebies, put pressure on them offensively and throw strikes. Looking forward to starting district play.”
