The Pampa Hustlin’ Harvesters (21-12, 7-6) traveled to Canyon on Friday afternoon to take on the Eagles in one of two remaining District 4-4A games. The Harvesters had a strong outing in the first half, tying the Eagles 29-29 at the buzzer for halftime. But the Eagles poured on points in the second half, out-scoring the Harvesters 41-19 to go on
to win 70-48.
“We struggled to score towards the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth quarter,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “Dalton picked up his fourth foul midway through the third quarter so that really hurt our offense.”
The Harvesters were led in scoring by Seniors Dalton Booth (11 points) and K’Trillion Young (10 points) and Jose Alonzo (nine points). The Harvesters shot 45 percent from the field to Canyon’s 43.5 percent.
But it was many of the defensive categories where
Canyon had the edge in points off turnovers (10-8), second-chance points (13-0) and rebounds (34-26).
The Harvesters wrap up the regular season on Tuesday when they host West Plains for the last time this season at McNeely Field House.
“West Plains is undefeated in district and ranked in the Top 10 in the state so this will be a very challenging game for us,” Barker said. “It will be good to play someone of West Plains caliber as we head into the playoffs. They are one of the favorites to win the region in Division 1 for sure.”
