The Pampa Harvesters had a tough stretch of games where they took on Randall, Dumas, Canyon and West Plains. The Harvesters went 0-3 in the games against Canyon ISD schools. But the Harvesters are sitting in the fourth spot ahead of Borger, Perryton and Dumas.

“Definitely not the week we wanted, but we still ended up 4-3 in the first half of district to sit in fourth place,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “It is going to take seven to eight wins to get into the playoffs, so we just have to take care of business in the second half of district.”

The Harvesters fell to West Plains 64-46 on Friday in a game played earlier in the day due to inclement weather.

While Senior Conner Hall doesn’t see much playing time throughout the season. Barker noted that he is one of the team's best shooters.

“Conner is one of the best shooters on our team,” Barker said. “He hasn't shot the ball as well as he would have liked this year, but he can get hot at any moment. Once he sees a shot or two go in, he can be a big weapon for us.”

The Harvesters lost to Canyon in a close 50-46 loss that actually saw Pampa lead 35-19 at half. “We had a great start to the game,” Barker said. “We were flying around on defense and taking care of the ball on offense. After we took a 14-point lead in the third quarter, we started turning the ball over which led to easy baskets for Canyon.”

Senior Trill Young is another Harvester that comes off the bench and had two points and a deflection in the contest.

“Trill is another one of our seniors that has been on varsity since his sophomore year,” Barker said.”He is our quickest player, so we like to get the ball in his hands to make plays. When he is in the game, our tempo really picks up.”

The Harvesters return to action on Tuesday when they start the next round of District play as they host Borger for Teacher Appreciation Night.

“Borger hasn't had a great year, but anything can happen in a Pampa/Borger game,” Barker said. “We can not go in to that game Tuesday and take them lightly. We are going to have to play with the same effort and intensity as we do against everyone else.”
