The Pampa Lady Harvesters (1-6, 0-1) fell to the Canyon Lady Eagles in the first match-up of District play on Thursday. The game was moved to Thursday to avoid the inclement weather coming in on Friday.
The Lady Harvesters fought hard and created some opportunities, but the Lady Eagles capitalized more than Pampa.
“Canyon moved the ball very well and controlled possession the first half,” Head Coach Brennan McGinty. “We had opportunities but never took advantage of them. They did. We’ve got to work on staying true to our formation and covering passing lanes.”
The Lady Harvesters lone goal came on an impressive “Olympic” goal from Senior Zhalie Solis. These rare goals come when a corner kick makes the goal without being touched.
“Zhalie is a very versatile player for us,” McGinty said. “She has one of, if not the, strongest legs on the team. Her leadership shines through the way she plays. No ounce of quit, despite any injury or circumstance dealt her way.”

Junior Aliyah Acosta, who was playing goalie due to injury, had 18 saves in the game.
The Lady Harvesters return to action on Tuesday when they host West Plains here in Pampa at Harvester Field at Zach Thomas Stadium.
“West Plains is always solid,” McGinty said. “They play a fast, aggressive style. In their attack they love to play the ball wide and cross back into the box. We have to maintain our positioning, rotate and protect the backside of the goal
