The Pampa Hustlin’ Harvesters (13-6, 4-1) continued District 4-4A Action last week. On Tuesday they traveled to Randall, where they suffered their first District loss against the Raiders, 82-37. The Harvesters bounced back on Friday when they hosted the Dumas Demons and picked up the 68-46 win.

“I am very proud of the way the guys responded after getting our butts kicked on Tuesday against Randall,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “We didn't play with the energy or effort on Tuesday that we played with against Dumas.”

The Harvesters' stout defense held Dumas to 21 points through three quarters on Friday. The Demons and Harvesters were locked in a shoot-out for the fourth quarter, but the Harvesters’ damage had already been done, and they went on to win 68-46.

“Our zone was very effective early on,” Barker said. “Dumas was having trouble getting shots off, and when they did get a shot, we rebounded well and limited them to one shot. Our activity in the first half on defense was as good as it has been all year. We held Dumas to 10 points in the first half, so that was really awesome to see.”

Senior Shubh Doshi saw his first action of the season on Tuesday at Randall. Against Dumas, he had six points off of two threes.

“Shubh broke his collarbone in our first practice of the year, so he has been out most of the year,” Barker said. “He is a great shooter, so it was good to see him make those 2 three-pointers. Shubh is a great kid and works extremely hard, so I was glad to see his hard work paying off.”

The Harvesters return to action on Tuesday when they host Canyon.

“Canyon is a very good team,” Barker said. “They have been ranked in the top 25 most of the year. They are extremely long and athletic on defense and cause a lot of turnovers. We are going to have to take care of the ball and limit our turnovers to have a chance to win. If we play with the same energy and effort on defense as we did against Dumas, we will have a great chance to win.
