Pampa

The Pampa Lady Harvesters (1-5) competed against Andrews at Plainview and in a tournament at Wichita Falls ahead of their Jan. 23 District Opener at Canyon. Injuries really started to mount during the tournament, and the Lady Harvesters struggled to

pick up a win, but Head Coach Brennan McGinty found a positive through it all.

“We faced adversity before the games really count,” McGinty said. “In the Andrews game, we had three injuries occur. Then, in the first game of the tournament, our starting keeper was injured. Then our backup got hurt. Being down five players really forced every player on the roster to play heavy minutes. That's the silver lining of it all.”

One of those players who stepped up and took advantage of her time was Freshman Chloe Larrazolo.

“Despite being a freshman, her aggressiveness and speed open up our offense a ton,” McGinty said. “She scored two goals and had an assist last week. When Aliyah had to move from wing to goalie, Chloe was able to still generate goal-scoring opportunities despite not having our starting midfield or wingers available.”

McGinty would like to see the Lady Harvesters staying locked in and taking shots when they should and stop leaving points on the field.

“We are still struggling with zoning out when we can't afford to,” McGinty said. “However, I'd like us to focus on taking smarter shots when we get the opportunity. We left two or three goals on the board against Graham that could've swung the momentum in our favor.”

The Lady Harvesters have a week and a half to lick their wounds, get healthy and get ready for Canyon next Friday, Jan. 23.

“Our focus must be just getting healthy at the moment. We are hampered by injuries,” McGinty said. “If we played a game today, we would have zero subs. We were able to get eyes on a few district opponents at the tournament and feel we can be competitive, especially if we are at full force.”
