The Pampa Harvesters (12-5, 3-0) tallied 47 rebounds and 36 points in the paint on Friday evening as they muscled past the Perryton Rangers 50-43 to stay undefeated in District 4-4A action.
“We definitely needed to start district 3-0 with the number of tough games coming up in the next few weeks,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “For the most part, our defense has been really good in the first three games of district. Perryton got hot from three in the fourth quarter on Friday, but we still held them to under 20 percent from behind the arc.”
The Harvesters' paint game was the key part of the game, as they outrebounded Perryton 47-28 and had a combined 14 points from seniors Parker Webb and Tristan Bagwell.

“One of our big keys to the game against Perryton was to outrebound them and dominate the paint,” Barker said. “Parker and Tristan definitely did that. We knew going in that Perryton lacks size, so we really needed to take advantage of that.”
Senior Dase Scott, who comes off the bench for Pampa, had two points in Friday’s game and is a great defensive player for the Harvesters.

“Dase is a great kid and always works extremely hard,” Barker said. “He is one of the best man defenders on the team, so it is nice to have that coming off the bench. He always does what is asked of him and is a great teammate.”
The Harvesters return to the road on Tuesday as they travel to Randall. While they are a completely new-looking team this year, Barker knows they will be a tough challenge.
“Randall had an extremely tough non-district schedule, so their record is deceiving,” Barker said. “They beat Canyon on Tuesday and played West Plains tough on Friday last week. They have almost a completely new team from last year, so I think it took them a little while to gel. They are playing more zone defense this year, so we definitely have to be prepared for that.”
