The Pampa Hustlin' Harvesters (8-4, 1-0) traveled to Borger on Monday for their District opener in 4-4A action. After a broken rim in Borger warm-ups forced the game to be moved to the Borger Junior High gym, the Harvesters overcame the changes with an 86-35 victory.

“It was nice to go on the road and take care of business,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “Borger actually broke a rim during warm-ups, so we had to move the game to the junior high. I thought the guys handled all the changes well and came out extremely focused. We jumped on them early and scored 30 points in the first quarter, so it was nice to have a great start like that.”

Senior Tristan Bagwell, who has controlled the inside throughout the season, tallied three rebounds, two deflections, and two steals.

“Tristan controls the paint for us,” Barker said. “With his size and also being able to move like he can, it really allows the other four defenders to guard the perimeter more aggressively, knowing we have Tristan in the paint waiting at the rim. He is a leader in the locker room and is just an all-around great kid.”

The Harvesters return to action after the Christmas holiday with the Gruver Tournament against the host team.

“We open up the Gruver tournament with Gruver on Monday morning,” Barker said. “They are a Top 10 team coming off a regional final appearance last year. That will be a very tough game coming off a seven-day break. We will play at least three games over two days, so we need to use these games to get back into shape while also preparing to resume district at Hereford on Jan. 6.”
