The Harvester Swim team, coached by Jeremiah Day, have been off and running this season. They have one final meet before heading into the Christmas break. Following the break, they will compete at the Andrew Invitational on January 2nd and 3rd. They will also compete in a Green-and-Gold meet in Pampa on January 10th. Regionals will be on January 30th and 31st in Andrews for anyone who qualifies. They will also compete at District in Lubbock on January 23rd. Here are recaps of their meets thus far!

Lubbock Mini-Invitational

Thursday October 2nd, the Harvester swim team competed in the Lubbock Mini-Invitational. “We had some great highlights from both the boys team and the girls team,” Coach Day said.

Leading the girls with points was Madilyn Paul. She placed 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle setting a personal best at 28.95 seconds. She also placed 2nd in the 100 yard butterfly in her first time competing in that event.

Other notable girl’s performances were Emery Lowenstein with a 3rd place in the 200 yard freestyle and 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle. The girl’s 200 yard freestyle placed 3rd. The relay was formed by Emery Lowenstein, Zayannah Baker, Aria Taylor, and Madilyn Paul. The points from the relay secured the girls 3rd place overall in the women’s standings.

For the boys, they were led in points by Archer Schroeder. He placed 1st in the 100 yard Butterfly and 3rd in the 200 yard freestyle. No other individual male made top 3, however their 200 yard Medley Relay placed 2nd and the 200 yard Freestyle relay finished 3rd. Both relays were formed with Orion Taylor, Emmett Flood, James McLatchy, and Archer Schroeder. The relay points pushed the boys team into 3rd place.

“It was a good opening meet for the Harvester Swim Team,” Day said.

Amarillo Invitational

The Harvester swim team competed at the Amarillo Swim Invitational on Saturday October 18. Here’s some of the highlights from this weekend.

Leading the girls team in points was Madilyn Paul. She placed 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle, and 3rd place in the 100 yard freestyle. Emery Lowenstein was not far behind with a 2nd place finish in the 500 yard freestyle and a 4th place finish in the 200 yard freestyle.

“The girls team performed great and every swimmer either set a new personal best or was within 3 seconds of their personal best,” Day said.

Leading the boys team in points was Archer Schroeder. He finished 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle. The boys managed to earn 3rd place in all 3 relays. The 200 Medley Relay, the 200 Freestyle Relay, and the 400 Freestyle Relay were made up of Orion Taylor, James McLatchy, Juaquin Chavez Badillo, and Archer Schroeder.

“The boys had a good showing and set many new personal records,” Day said.

Lawton, Okla.

The Harvester Swim Team competed at the Lawton Oklahoma Invitational on Friday November 14th. The boys and girls teams both finished 2nd overall in points.

“Each team had great individual performances,” Day said.

The girls team was led in points by Madilyn Paul. She finished 1st in the 50 yard freestyle and 3rd in the 100 yard butterfly setting personal bests in both events. Emery Lowenstein was also a big contributor earning 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle and 3rd in the 200 yard individual medley. Aria Taylor also managed a top 3 performance finishing 2nd in the 100 yard backstroke setting a new mark on her best times.

The girls had 2 relays that finished top 3. The 200 yard Medley relay placed first; made with Aria Taylor, Zayannah Baker, Madilyn Paul, and Emery Lowenstein. The 400 yard Freestyle Relay placed 3rd; made up of Aria Taylor, Faith Robles, Kimberly Sims, and Emery Lowenstein. With the Relays performances, all the girls managed to finish in a race within the top 3 which helped them secure 2nd place overall.

The boys team was led in points by Archer Schroeder. In a close 50 yard freestyle race he tied 1st place with a time that was .08 from his personal best. He finished 1st place outright in the 100 yard freestyle, besting his own time and the 2nd place finisher by 2 seconds. Close behind in points was Orion Taylor with a 2nd place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, dropping his own previous best by 100 seconds. Orion also placed 3rd in the 200 yard individual medley. Another boy who finished in top 3 was Emmett Flood placing 3rd in the 100 yard butterfly.

The boys also had 2 relays that finished top 3 helping them secure their second place in team points. The 400 yard freestyle relay placed 2nd; made up of Orion Taylor, James McLatchy, Emmett Flood, and Archer Schroeder. The boys placed 3rd in the 200 yard freestyle; made up of Juaquin Chavez Badillo, Kevin Stagliano, Juan Mendoza, and Archer Schroeder. Thanks to the relays, all the boys had a top 3 finish in at least one race. With the final race, the boys finished in 2nd place in points.

Altus, Okla.

The Pampa Harvester swim team had another strong showing this season in Altus, Okla. on Friday November 21. The boys and girls teams both finished 2nd place out of 6 teams in points only trailing Altus.

Leading the girls team in points was Emery Lowenstein. She placed 2nd in the 400 Meter Freestyle and 3rd in the 200 Meter Freestyle setting new personal bests in both events. Close behind in points was Madilyn Paul finishing 2nd in the 50 Meter Freestyle and 4th place in the 100 Meter Butterfly.

Other notable individual finishes include Zayannah Baker finishing 3rd place in the 100 Meter Breaststroke, and Aria Taylor finishing 4th in the 100 Meter Backstroke. The girls had one relay that managed a top 3 finish. The 200 Meter Medley Relay finished 3rd made up of Aria Taylor, Zayannah Baker, Madilyn Paul, and Emery Lowenstein. In a close final tally, the Harvester girls team edged out second by 4 points.

Leading the boys in points was Archer Schroeder, with a 3rd place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle and a 2nd place finish in the 100 Meter Butterfly. Emmett Flood was able to place 4th in the 100 Meter Butterfly and Orion Taylor finished 4th in the 200 Meter Individual Medley. The boys held off Elgin for 2nd place by 30 points.

Fort Worth TISCA

The Harvester swim team competed in the TISCA 4A North Zone Swimming Invitational. The Prelims phase was Friday December 5th and the championship and consolation finals were on December 6th. “This was our hardest competition of the year so far and our swimmers represented Pampa well,” Day said. “This championship meet required swimmers to earn their way into the finals finishing in the top 16 among all the swimmers entered in their categories. Every Pampa swimmer was able to qualify in at least 1 race for the second day of competition in the consolation finals.”

On the first day of competition, the girls were led by Madilyn Paul finishing 14th in the 50 yard Freestyle and 13th in the 100 yard Freestyle. Emery Lowenstein finished 11th in the 500 yard Freestyle and Aria Taylor finished 13th in the 200 yard Individual Medley.

The remaining ladies qualified on their relays. The 200 yard Medley Relay placed 9th and was made with Aria Taylor, Zayannah Baker, Madilyn Paul, and Emery Lowenstein. The 200 yard Freestyle Relay placed 14th and was made with Faith Robles, Kimberly Sims, Zayannah Baker, and Madilyn Paul. The 400 yard Freestyle Relay placed 11th with Aria Taylor, Faith Robles, Kimberly Sims, and Emery Lowenstein.

For the boys, Archer Schroeder led them during the first day placing 10th on the 100 yard Freestyle and 10th on the 50 yard Freestyle. The rest of the boys were able to qualify in their relays.

The 200 yard Medley Relay placed 15th with Orion Taylor, James McLatchy, Emmett Flood, and Juaquin Chavez Badillo. The 200 yard Freestyle Relay placed 15th with Emmett Flood, Juaquin Chavez Badillo, James McLatchy, and Archer Schroeder. The 400 yard Freestyle Relay placed 11th with Orion Taylor, Emmett Flood, James McLatchy, and Archer Schroeder.

During the finals on Saturday, the girls were led by Madilyn Paul who was able to maintain her position in 14th on the 50 yard Freestyle and move up from 13th to 12th on the 100 yard Freestyle. Emery Lowenstein maintained her 11th place finish in the 500 yard Freestyle and Aria Taylor was able to move up one position to 12th place on the Individual Medley.

The girls relays performed well. The 200 yard Medley Relay maintained 9th place made up of Aria Taylor, Zayannah Baker, Madilyn Paul, and Emery Lowenstein. The 200 yard Freestyle Relay set a new team best time, however, they were disqualified due to an early takeoff. The 400 yard Freestyle Relay maintained their position at 11th and dropped 7 more seconds as a group. The points from all their events earned the girls 10th out of 16 teams.

For the boys finals, Archer Schroeder was able to post faster times, but so did the rest of the field. He finished 11th in the 50 yard Freestyle and 10th in the 100 yard Freestyle. The boys relays were able to keep their position and improve in one race.

The 200 yard Medley Relay was able to maintain their position finishing 15th with Orion Taylor, James McLatchy, Emmett Flood, and Juaquin Chavez Badillo. Their 200 Freestyle Relay improved to 14th place with Emmett Flood, Juaquin Chavez Badillo, James McLatchy, and Archer Schroeder. The 400 yard Freestyle Relay maintained 11th place with Orion Taylor, Emmett Flood, James McLatchy, and Archer Schroeder. With those events, the boys finished 10th out of the 14 teams represented.

The Harvester Swim team will have their next competition at Seminole High School on Saturday December 13th.
