The Pampa Hustlin’ Harvesters (2-3) competed at the New Home Tournament outside of Lubbock. During the tournament the Harvesters went 2-2 with wins against Whitharral (64-40) and New Home (55-46) and losses against Levelland (64-53) and Slaton (69-60).
“It was a very competitive tournament,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “Three of the four teams we played are ranked in the Top 10 in their classification. We started a little slow against Levelland, so we got down pretty big early. We were able to make a run to tie it up in the 3rd quarter, but just weren't able to finish.
“We really played our best basketball of the season in our two games on Friday. New Home is coming off back-to-back state tournament appearances, so that was a big win for us. They are a solid team that can really shoot the basketball. We were much better this weekend at taking care of the basketball and limiting our turnovers.
“We still have to keep working on our perimeter shooting so we can be more consistent scoring from outside the paint. We are really tough to guard when we can score both inside and outside.
Senior Parker Webb had 26 points over the course of the tournament, which is a testament to the tenacious play from the multi-sport athlete.

“Parker had a great tournament this weekend in Lubbock,” Barker said. “He always rebounds very well and is a physical presence inside.
“He took an elbow to the eye early in the Whitharral game that left him with a pretty nice shiner. He came back into the game and had a great second half. Parker is a tough kid who comes in and works hard every day,” Barker said.
The Harvesters returned to action on Tuesday when they hosted Bushland.
“Bushland is always solid,” Barker said. “They are very good defensively and have a decent amount of size. We are going to have to rebound well and handle their physicality. Coach Copley does a great job of getting them prepared, so we will have to be ready for a tough game.”
