The Pampa Lady Harvesters (17-10, 3-4) fell to the Demonettes at Dumas on Tuesday to finish their first round of District play.
The Lady Harvesters dropped a close first set to the Demonettes, and hit a lull in the second set that led to the sweep by the Demonettes.
“Dropping the first set is tough because you know the match will have to be pushed to either four or five and the team taking that set has the momentum to start the second set,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said. “Going into this next round, we need to push to win early to have that momentum throughout the match.”
Sophomore Karsyn Brown has been a budding star on the Lady Harvesters this season, and Kashwer said she expects her to continue to grow with the future of the Pampa volleyball program.
“Karsyn has made so much growth since she was brought to varsity half way through the season last year,” Kashwer said. “She has become a student of the game, and pushed herself at practice which pushed her teammates in similar positions.”

Now one game under .500 for District play, the Lady Harvesters will hope to take lessons from their first trip through District to give them an edge as the second round starts on Saturday at Canyon.
“After the Dumas loss, we have talked about keeping our fate for playoffs in our own hands,” Kashwer said. “We know what to do in order to be successful against the teams in our district this second time around, and we need to prepare for every match like we want to be playing deep into November.”
The Lady Eagles beat Pampa the first time they faced to open District in September. The Lady Harvesters will seek retribution Saturday at noon at Canyon.
“Going into the Canyon match, the younger girls have more district experience and understand how they have to play to be successful in this district,” Kashwer said. “We will also learn from the mistakes from the first matchup and use what was successful going into Saturday’s match.”
