The Pampa Lady Harvesters (16-8, 2-2) overcame a 0-2 match deficit to stun the Hereford Lady Whitefaces with a reverse sweep on Saturday; winning the last three sets to earn their second district win (22-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19, 16-14) of the season. The victory marked the first time in at least 10 years that Pampa has beaten Hereford in volleyball.

“I think what changed is they saw how close they were to winning the 2nd set after being down and truly wanted to prove a point that they deserve to be talked about,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said. “Something has clicked this season within the program. The girls are buying into the coaching philosophies, working hard in the weight room and pushing each other in practice. They believe in each other and that Pampa Volleyball is worth being a part of the conversation.”

A big part of Saturday’s win was Madi Barton, who had a double-double with 28 assists and 12 digs.

“Madi has been working hard since this summer to be one of our starting setters,” Kashwer said. “She wants to be the best she can be and has the worth ethic to do which is great for the future of LHVB.”

The Lady Harvesters traveled to Perryton on Tuesday where they sought their third straight district win.

“The message to girls going into the Perryton match is to play our kind of volleyball and to not overlook an opponent,” Kashwer said.  “Anyone can be beaten on any given night, and we need to get another district win to make it three in a row going into the Randall match.”
