The Pampa Lady Harvesters (14-8) traveled to Amarillo on Saturday to take on Canyon ISD’s West Plains Lady Wolves. The Lady Harvesters fell to West Plains in three (9-25, 21-25, 15-25) to start District 0-2.
“During the West Plains match, we started off star-struck, but once we settled in, the girls played hard like they have all season,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said. “We were able to get their pin hitters out of the mix, but West Plains middles were the difference in the game. We weren’t able to defend them like we needed to.”
Junior Yaritza Saene, in her first year on varsity, had three digs in the match and has shown to have a bright future ahead of her.

“Yaritza works hard every day in the weight room and at practice,” Kashwer said. “She is a vocal kid whether she’s in the game or on the bench. Since this is her first year on varsity, there is still some growth she needs to make, but I have all the confidence in her that she’ll become a solid back row player for us.”
On Tuesday, the Lady Harvesters hosted the Borger Lady Bulldogs in a rivalry game as they seek their first District win.
“The Borger–Pampa matchup is a rivalry that brings out the best play in both teams,” Kashwer said.
“We were able to get a win on them early, but I know we look a little different since that match, and they most likely do, too. We have to play Lady Harvester Volleyball, control what we can control, and feed off of the amazing energy that is created in McNeely.”
