The Pampa Lady Harvesters won their seventh straight match on Tuesday evening when they took down Amarillo’s Palo Duro in four sets (25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-10).

“I think this win streak means a lot to the girls and our program,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said.

“The hard work they put in from lifting at 7 a.m. to practicing at the end of the school day is paying off. They are in the boat and everyone is rowing which has helped us get big wins over some good 4A and 5A teams recently like Greenwood, Caprock, Borger and PD.”

Junior Haili Newton, who had 22 kills in the Lady Harvester Classic last Friday, has been a big part of that success.

“Haili is all about the team,” Kashwer said. “She is always encouraging her teams and working for them when she is swinging in the front row. Her confidence has come so far since last season, and she has become one of our top scorers.”

Senior Karina Gonzalez and Sophomore Karsyn Brown each led the team with seven kills on Tuesday evening against Palo Duro.

District play looms next Tuesday when the Lady Harvesters host Canyon, but there will be one more tune-up when they host Dalhart Saturday at 1 p.m.

“I believe the girls need to keep their confidence and believing their hard work to continue to get wins,” Kashwer said. “We need to worry about our side of the net rather than our opponent.”
