Pampa ISD Visitor Guidelines
At Pampa ISD, the safety of our students and staff and the integrity of our learning environment are top priorities. Pampa ISD uses the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and staff. Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that.
The Raptor® Visitor Management System screens against the national sex offender registry for every visitor based on first name, last name and date of birth. The Raptor system will also screen against custom alerts the district/school configures, such as, non-custodial parents/guardians, non-trespassing orders, etc.The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.
To ensure a secure and productive educational experience, all visitors, including parents and guardians, must follow these district-wide guidelines when entering our campuses:
What to Expect
All visitors must report to the front office to check-in at the Visitor Kiosk or front office personnel immediately upon arrival.
A valid, government-issued photo ID (showing photo, name and date of birth) is required for check-in. This includes parents/guardians, Board members, volunteers, vendors, social service representatives, media, former students, and all others.
Your ID or car keys will remain in the front office during your visit and will be returned once you check out and turn in your badge. This helps us ensure that all visitors will be checked out at the office.
Visitors must wear a school-issued visitor badge in a visible location at all times while on campus.
When in the building, you are only approved to go to the specific location requested. You should not go to any other area of the building without returning to the main office for approval.
When leaving the building, return to the main office, turn in your badge and sign out. Your ID or keys will be returned to you at that time.
Classroom Visits
Classroom visits during instructional time are only allowed with advance approval from both the campus principal and the classroom teacher.
A parent may suggest a date/time, but the teacher has the discretion to recommend an alternate time to minimize disruption to instruction.
Approved classroom visits must meet these criteria:
Do not interfere with instruction or the normal school environment.
Visitors must follow classroom rules just as students do.
Phones, cameras, and recording devices must remain off and out of sight.
Classroom visits may not include third-party observers, unless authorized school officials or legal guardians.
Prohibited Activities
Visitors may not distribute materials or information to students or staff without approval from the Superintendent or designee.
Solicitation, proselytizing, recruiting for fundraising, political causes, or religious/youth groups is not allowed.
All media inquiries or campus visits must be arranged through the Office of Communications by contacting the Director of Communications.
Visitors should wear appropriate attire that aligns with the student dress code found in the Pampa ISD Student Handbook.
Regular Volunteers or Student Interaction
Any visitor wishing to have ongoing presence on campus or interact directly with students must register under the VIPS program, undergo and pass a criminal background check, as required by district policy. An ongoing presence can be eating lunch with your child, meetings, special events, field trips, booster club meetings, or volunteering.
As an approved VIPS(Volunteer In Pampa Schools):
You agree to a state required annual background check. This background check is good for one year.
You will get a permanent photo badge with a personal bar code. You will use your bar code to scan in and out at the campus. You will be able to bypass the visitor check-in process and quickly check-in/check-out at the VIPS kiosk.
