Grade Level Task Force

In July 2020, the Board of Trustees asked the administration to begin researching the pros/cons of considering a change in grade level configurations for our elementary campuses. The task force met twice.  The first meeting was held on Monday, September 21st from 5:30-7:30 pm at the PISD Administration Building. The second meeting was held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, October 13th at 5:30-7:30 pm.  The focus group continued to gather research, data, and feedback on information about the considerations for grade level configurations  At the last meeting, impact study reports were discussed and provided to the focus group in the following areas:

  • school including staffing,
  • curriculum, instruction, assessment and accountability,
  • facilities,
  • campus culture and special populations,
  • transportation, and
  • finance.

A Parent and Community Survey and a Staff Survey was distributed to stakeholders via email, Remind, and social media.  Within the survey, stakeholders were able to volunteer to be a part of a focus group to provide additional, more in-depth feedback.  The focus group met electronically on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 10:00 am and at 6:30 pm. Two opportunities were offered for focus group members to attend to better meet availability within their schedules.
