What has been going on in the Travis P.A.A.S. den? Thinking critically, creatively and researching! We do mysteries, logic puzzles and webquests. They put all the information they have gathered into a product. The one product the students enjoy is putting together a Power Point.
The Fifth Grade students have been busy this year finding out what is happening in our earth through a webquest. Also, the Fifth Graders are going to work on the P.A.A.S. web page. Be sure to check back and see their handy work. They are staying busy and doing a great job .
The Third and Fourth Graders are researching the earth and what is going on inside by doing "The History of the Earth " webquest". They are going to be making volcanoes in a few weeks and doing a Power Point on what they have discovered.
Second Graders have been doing a Webquest on butterflies. They have been documenting their observations in their journal as they watch the changes in the classroom. The students watched the chrysalis open up and the butterflies appear. After a couple of days, they let them fly fly away amidst the flowers.
Now a small amount of info about myself. I went to Pampa schools and graduated from West Texas A & M with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Reading. I also received a Science Teacher Mentor Certificate by completing 135 hours of Science through the WTA&M and Amarillo College Science Collaborative.
I have been a facilitator for P.A.A.S. for four wonderful years. Before the world of P.A.A.S., I taught Science and Math in Fourth and Fifth Grade at Wilson Elementary. As one can tell, I am a firm believer students need the experience in researching using all technologies along with the great information from all reading avenues. I strive to strengthen their thinking by using both sides of their brain through different activities.
Thank you for visiting the P.A.A.S. page.
