Counselor
Richard Steele, Counselor/Director of the Pampa Learning Center, has 33 years of experience in education with 25 of those as a counselor. He received his bachelor and master degrees from West Texas State University.

Ginger Holwick
In Home/GED
Virginia Holwick has worked at Pampa Learning Center for eight years. She works with GED students and as the homebound teacher for the Teen Parent program.

Her favorite feature of PLC is the caring atmosphere that exists between students and teachers.

Mrs. Holwick attended Mexico City University, received a BS in Education from Abilene Christian University and received certification in both English and Special Education from West Texas A & M University.

Sara Wheeley
Teen Parent Coordinator/Home Ec.
Sara Wheeley has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, seven years of nursing experience, nine years of experience teaching at Pampa Learning Center.

Mrs. Wheeley is the Teen Parent Coordinator of the Pampa Independent School District. The program consists of instructional curriculum for pregnant and parenting teens. Teen parents interact in support groups and participate in many activities related to parenting skills.

Mrs. Wheeley instructs students in Family and Consumer Science areas such as parenting, housing design, foods, and nutrition. She feel that Pampa Learning Center is able to provide a caring, supportive environment with a goal directed to excellence in education.

Margaret Williams
IPC/Science/ TAKS

Mrs. Williams has 25 years of teaching experience with many years as an eighth grade science teacher at Pampa Middle School.  She is currently in her fourth year at PLC teaching IPC, Biology, and Science TAKS test review.

Mrs. Williams says it is rewarding to work with small groups of students and to encourage them to reach their goals.  She loves to see them “light up” when a new concept makes sense.

She has been with the Pampa Independent School teen parent program since 1990. She became director of Bright Beginnings Child Care in 2000. Bright Beginnings is a four star daycare with the Panhandle Worksource Childcare Services and licensed with the state of Texas. Susan is proud to be a part of such a worthwhile program.

My husband Clint and I have three daughters. I have four years of Day Care experience, and have taught children's church for the past 10 years. I enjoy working for the PISD teen parent program.


Debbie Smith

My husband Stan and I have raised three children of our own, Robin, Scot and Josh. We are now helping Robin and Scot raise their seven and will help Josh when he starts his family. I worked at St. Matthew's Day School for about a year and a half before coming to Bright Beginnings. I graduated from Borger High School and went to Frank Phillips college for two years. It's great working at Bright Beginnings, the children ar great and so are all the parents. I hope to be here a long time.

My husband Joe and I raised three sons. I have two granddaughters and one grandson.I have been working with infants in the daycare since 1991. I have an associates degree as an operating room technician. Working with the teen moms and their babies is very rewarding and gives me great joy.
