Biography

I am a graduate of Wayland Baptist College and West Texas State University. I have taught 8th grade history in Pampa since the 1979-80 school year. Prior to that, I taught English and history classes at Lockney High School. I have served as the Chairperson of the Social Studies Department at Pampa Junior High for the past several years. I grew up in Indiana and worked as a secretary in Chicago, Illinois before coming to Texas. I am, of course, an avid CUBS fan!

Class Timeline

Expectations

Students will be issued a textbook early in the school year. They will use this book at home only and will not bring it to class with them. Since students will have a classroom textbook to use while in my room, I do not want any backpacks brought into my room. This is a safety issue (keeps things out of the aisles) and also keeps students more focused on the class discussion since they don't have the distraction of looking through their backpacks for various items. Stdudents are expected to bring supplies and assignments to class with them and will not be allowed to return to lockers to get them. All students will need to bring a history spiral, pencil, blue or black ink pen, and notebook paper to class every day. They will also need a set of map pencils to keep in their locker. I will tell students ahead of time if they need to bring the map pencils. Grade averages are based on: homework/classwork (1 daily grade each), chapter tests (2 daily grades each), unit tests (3 daily grades each), required outside work for Pre-AP students (3 daily grades each).
