Attendance Policy

According to Texas Education Code 25.094 your child is required to attend school for at least 90% of the days during a semester.

A student will be counted absent from class is he/she is not present when the roll is taken.  When a student is absent, the school must be notified by a parent.  The attendance office is open from 7:30 – 3:15 and can be reached at 669-4900 ext 12.  An answering machine is available if you are unable to call during regular office hours.

If your child goes to the doctor/dentist, we must have a note from the doctor’s office in order for the absence to be excused. Excused absences (notes from a medical office) do not count against your child when documenting absences.

An attendance committee meets several times during the school year.  At that time, absences for individual students will be looked at.  Parents will receive attendance letters beginning with the fifth absence.  If the school can answer any questions regarding the letter, please call Marsha Richardson, 669-4900 ext. 13.  In extreme cases of absences of more than 10 absences in a semester, students and parents have been taken to court.  The school will work diligently with you and your child before taking any action.

If you are having problems getting your child to come to school, we are here to help.

Thank you for your support in getting your child to school and helping make their school experience a successful one.

Tardy Policy

Students are allowed five tardies a semester.  Beginning with the sixth tardy, students will be assigned d-hall.  In the case of extreme tardies, other measures will be taken, for example, a student may be escorted to his/her classes or be given an ISS assignment.  Parents will be contacted if tardies become a problem.  Constant tardiness is a disruption of class and we allow plenty of time for students to pass between classes.
