Head Start is a program for young children who have turned 4 prior to Sept. 1 of the current school year. In order for a child to attend head start a parent must make an application to the program. When making the application it is necessary to bring a legal birth certificate, social security card, a copy of any qualifiers (including documented disabilities and public assistance), the parent's last two paycheck stubs, medicaid or chip insurance, and the child's shot record. The children are awarded points based on need and placed on a priority list. We place the children first who are highest on the priority list. Currently we serve 88 children in our head start classes and 18 in a pre-k classroom. Classroom hours are 7:45 to 11:00 for the A.M. class. Classroom hours are 11:30 to 2:30 for the P.M. class.
