Hello! I am Loretta Flaherty, the current elementary P.A.A.S. teacher in the Pampa district. I serve a total of 116 delightful students during the week at Austin, Wilson, Lamar and Travis. This is my fourth year to have the privilege of being a P.A.A.S. teacher, but my first year to serve all the students. Before this endeavor, I taught Math and Science at Wilson Elementary School. The P.A.A.S. program, Pampa Academic Achievement Services, strives to provide students that have been accepted into this program with an enriching and challenging educational experience through research and independent studies using technology and other avenues providing an enhancement of studentship skills and an expanding appreciation as a life long learner. What is happening in the P.A.A.S. Lion’s Den, you ask? Fifth grade is on a search of what happened during the Lewis and Clark Expedition. We have Topographers, Indian Affairs Experts, Botanists, and Zoologists searching through journals and surfing the web for facts about the journey. They will be completing a map to show all of their information. Second graders are writing a story in a book they made on facts they are learning about the Macaroni, Little Blue and other different penguins. Third and Fourth grade students are diving into the depths to find information on different sharks by comparing and contrasting their attributes. They will be innovative writers and write a commercial for their shark. Yes, as one can see, we are researching.
